2017 Season Outlook

Head Coach-          Scott Holzknecht ’97; enters his second season as Head Coach

2016 team finish-  Region champion & State runner up

Key returning starters-   Jacob Burnam, senior; Alex Cyterski, senior;  Jack Meredith, senior; Jacob Travelstead, senior; Trevor Warren, senior; Jack Baum, junior; Nick Michels, Junior; Nick Stauble, junior; Shane Williams, junior; Riggs Hardy, sophomore; Nick Lewis, sophomore

Key newcomers-  Austin Montgomery, freshman; Ryan O’ Dea, freshman; Kyle Webb, freshman

Outlook for the season-  Even though the team finished 2016 as state runner up, they felt like they had not quite reached their running potential.  With 6 of the 7 state runners returning to the roster in 2017, and with the off season progress made by some of our younger runners, the team enters the new season with excitement and high expectations. The team will combine speed, endurance and a deep roster.

Senior Trevor Warren returns as the fourth fastest Trinity runner of all-time. In the spring, at the KHSAA state track meet, Trevor finished second in the 1600m and third in the 3200m. Following close behind him is fellow senior Jacob Burnam, holder of the ninth fastest time in Trinity running history. A pack of other Trinity runners are expected to be right there with Trevor and Jacob, including Jack Baum, Alex Cyterski, Jack Meredith, Jacob Travelstead and others.

These talented Rocks will compete against a challenging regular season.  The schedule includes the Tiger Run (Louisville), the Brooks Twilight (Memphis), the Mason Invitational (Ohio), the Trinity Invitational (Louisville), the Lexington Catholic Invitational (Lexington)  and the MileStat Invitational (Virginia). All of this is geared toward having the team ready to race their best race on November 4 at the KHSAA State Championship Cross Country Meet in Lexington.
