Trinity Football – 2017 Season Outlook

Head Coach- Bob Beatty, H’03, 18th Season at Trinity

2016 team finish- 15-0, State Champion, Top 20 in US rankings, winner of record setting 24th state football championship for school, winner of record setting 12th state championship for Head Coach Beatty

Key returning players- Seniors Cody Auxier, Nick Cardosi, Ethan Hull, Santana Jones, Rondale Moore, Kyle Sears, Nick Strothman, Alex Wilson; Juniors Jacob Dingle, Stephen Herron

Increased contributions expected from- Seniors Nick Bohn, Christian English, Arak McDuffey, Matt Pfeifer, Trey Ruckriegel, Brett Tully; Juniors Adam Cash, Kadin Kulmer, Luke McGuire, Anthony Palombino, Geremiah Smith

Outlook for the season- Coming off a record setting, state championship season in 2016, the Rocks have little time to look back and celebrate last year. The 2017 season brings with it a very competitive regular season schedule and new challenges beginning with the home opening game against defending Indiana state champion Carmel High School.

While the team graduated most of its starting lineup on the offensive side of the football, senior wide receiver Rondale Moore (Texas commit) returns to spearhead what is certain to be another high powered offense under Coach Beatty and Offensive Coordinator Andrew Coverdale. Senior QB Nick Bohn has looked strong in preseason work, having spent last season as back up to the graduated senior Spencer Blackburn. Defensive Coordinator Jay Cobb returns a number of key players from a stout defense to include senior linebackers Jay Cardosi and Ethan Hull, senior DB Santana Jones and Junior DE/LB Stephen Herron (Michigan commit). Look for the Trinity defense to get off to a fast start in the 2017 campaign.

As always, the regular season schedule boasts a number of traditionally strong high school football programs to include Carmel (IN), Warren Central (IN), Moeller (OH), Male, Champagnat Catholic (FL) and the annual rivalry game with St. Xavier. The Football Rocks aim to be playing their best football once the post season arrives and hope to make a trip eastbound on I64 to be playing in Lexington on Sunday afternoon, December 3.

Football Sets Records, Wins State Title #24

The Trinity Shamrocks won their twenty-fourth Football state title, 56-21 over Lexington Lafayette in Bowling Green, KY, on Saturday, Dec. 3 (the game actually concluded early in the morning on Dec. 4). With the win, Trinity takes the all-time lead in KHSAA Football titles and Coach Bob Beatty H’03 now owns the all-time lead in titles, with 12 won as a head coach at Trinity. The feat also marks win # 600 all-time in school history, as the Rocks completed an unblemished 2016 season.

The Rocks road to the title traveled through Ohio County (69-0), Eastern (49-0), Ballard (63-20) and Saint Xavier (24-14) before meeting Lafayette. The season also saw impressive victories over national powers Ensworth and Brentwood Academy out of Nashville, TN. The team also recorded an impressive feat by not allowing one point to any of our district opponents in the regular-season matchups.

Additionally, Max Preps and the United States National Guard recognized the Football Rocks in February on their nationwide Tour of Champions.

  • 15-0 record (the ninth in school history)
  • state football championship #24 in school history (state record)
  • Kentucky high school state football championship #12 for Head Coach Bob Beatty (state record)
  • football win #600 in school history
  • a season-ending ranking in the top 20 of five different national football poll

The Momma Rocks Organization includes all of the moms (and dads) of football student-athletes, trainers and managers. Our main objective is to FEED THE BOYS!

We achieve this goal through:

  •  The design and sale of Football Spirit apparel at all of the Trinity Football home games
  • Collecting food and drink donations from all of the football families at our annual Kick-Off Picnic
  • Monetary donations collected from all football families
  • Seeking and obtaining dinner and travel meal donations from area restaurants

With the help of great restaurants, generous families and the support of all of our proud parents and fans, we are able to provide meals to the boys. We feed the boys on Wednesday nights throughout the season.  We provide special treats during the season and Pride Week. The Momma Rocks ensure that travel meals are provided to all Trinity Football teams for road trip games. We reciprocate for visiting teams so they have a meal on their way home. We celebrate and honor our Seniors and Coaches each season.

For more information or to contact us about donation and volunteer opportunities, please email us, message us on Facebook or Twitter. With your continued support and donations, we can achieve our goals. Thank You! #GoRocks #begreaT
