This Friday, we will have an all-school mass to celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Dec. 8 is a holy day of obligation in the Catholic church, which honors Mary, the mother of Jesus, for being born without sin and for being faithful to God’s will. Report to Advising in the morning and we’ll be dismissed from there to the gym and sit with advising groups. Seniors—you will sit as a class in chairs on the floor. School will still dismiss at 2 p.m. Students are encouraged to wear sport coats!

  • On Friday, Dec. 15, teachers will be available on their classrooms for make-up work/test and to assist students in preparing for exams.Students who were absent on December 13 or 14 may plan to make-up exams with their teachers on this day. The Library and Computer Labs will be available to students. This is an optional day for students, but all students must leave campus by noon on Friday.

 

  • Students sitting for an exam must remain in their classroom for the entire 75-minute exam period.

 

  • Students not having a first exam for the day may report to the cafeteria. Students may not be in the hallways during exams.

 

  • When a student is dismissed from his last exam for the day, he must either report to Alumni Hall or leave campus. Students may not remain in the hallways.

 

  • Breakfast only will be available in the cafeteria. Cafeteria hours during exams are 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Please plan accordingly.

 

  • Seniors are eligible for exam exemption if they maintain a 90 percent or better for quarters 1 and 2.

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, we are officially in the Christmas shopping season. We are also in the Giving Tree season. This year, we are once again partnering with the Community Catholic Center to provide Christmas gifts for 120 children in the Portland neighborhood. We are asking individuals, advising groups, clubs, and teams to sign up to provide a $10-$15 wrapped gift. We are also collecting $25 Kroger and fast food gift cards. After TTV today, students will be around to each advising group with a sign up sheet. Mr. Luken will then send you the necessary details. Also, if you are looking for service hours, we will be doing a Christmas Party on Sun, Dec. 17 from 12-2 p.m. playing games and passing out the gifts. See Mr. Luken in T215 to sign up.

House News

The annual House Christmas party will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 13 from 12:00 to 2:00 in F131, the science lab between Mr. Blakeslee’s and Ms. Reader’s rooms. This party is open to all House Directors, Mentors, Advisors, Captains and Reps. Come join us for food, music, and holiday cheer. Hope to see you there!

Principal’s Challenge: Christmas Carol Contest! Perform a Christmas Carol with members of your House and earn points. Due Monday, Dec. 11 at 3:30 p.m. See your Advisor or House Director for more details.

The final marquee of the second quarter will take place during the Trinity vs. Seneca varsity basketball game tomorrow at 7:30 in Steinhauser Gym. Students should check in with Mr. Klein before halftime to earn a point for their House. Admission will be free with a Trinity I.D.!

Activities

The Freshman-Sophomore Winter Dance will take place on Saturday, Jan. 20 in Shamrock Hall from 9 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $20 per couple and will go on sale when we return from Christmas Break. It’s the perfect time of year to find a date as girls’ hearts are filled with goodwill to men.

The Ping Pong Club will meet today in Convocation Hall after school, from 3 to 4 p.m.

Attention all card gamers! Do you play Collectable Card Games like Yu-Gi-Oh! or Hearthstone? Do you enjoy Gwent, Shadowverse, or even the classic Magic: The Gathering? Today after school in Mr. Greenwell’s room we will be celebrating the new Hearthstone expansion with giveways and more fun surprises. Even if you play other card games, please feel free to stop by and join in on the fun. Mr. Greenwell is also trying to set up tournaments for Hearthstone or other CCGs, so swing by and let him know if you’d like to bring your cards and throw down.

The Barbell Club trains Mondays and Tuesdays at 4:15 and Fridays at 2:20 p.m. See Coach Snyder in the weight room of the Marshall Center.

The 2018 Open Division Intramural Basketball League will begin after Christmas break. Any student wanting to have a team in either the sophomore or junior/senior division must turn in his official team roster by 3 p.m. on Friday, December 8. Rosters may be turned in to Mr. Bryant or Mr. Chancellor. Also, there is a mandatory important meeting for all sophomore team captains on Monday, December 11 and for all junior/senior team captains on Tuesday, December 12. These meetings are in Shamrock Hall, R162, starting at 3 pm sharp. League specifics will be discussed as well as team colors will be chosen. See Mr. Bryant or Mr. Chancellor if you have any questions concerning intramural basketball.

Attention all students interested in starting the Christmas holidays off the right way: The Green Cross Service Club is looking for volunteers to help set up the Wayside Christian Mission Christmas store on Saturday, Dec. 16 from noon until 5 p.m. Transport will be provided from Trinity. Please see Mr. Budniak for a permission form and additional information!

Athletics

Congratulations to Head Coach Bob Beatty and the Football Rocks. On Sunday at UK’s Kroger Field, the Trinity Football team completed a second consecutive 15-0 championship season with a hard fought and determined 38 – 21 win over St X. The victory secured Trinity’s 25th state football championship (a record for KY schools) and Coach Beatty’s 13th state football championship as head coach (a record for KY coaches). We will recognize and celebrate the team this Thursday with an all-school assembly.

Attention all athletes interested in distance running for the track team…this would be the 800, mile, or 2 mile races. We will be starting practice next Monday. The track team is looking to improve on it’s state-runner-up finish from last year.  Maybe YOU are the athlete that will get us there.  Please see Coach Holzknecht in S153 ASAP if you are interested in joining distance track. Announcements for sprints, jumps, and throws will be forthcoming…keep your ears open!
