Office News

Tickets for The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged are on sale now. Trinity students can purchase them during school hours for $8 from Ms. Durbin in T316. All other tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors/students. Call Joy Durbin at 736-2188 or email durbin@trinityrocks.com for more information.

Reminder for all juniors: Job Shadow Day is next Wednesday, November 8.

Music Lists from Senior Retreat are now available. If you attended retreat last week, please see Mr. Luken in T215 for a music list.

School pictures were distributed by Math class. If your picture is unsatisfactory, you MUST bring their original pictures to Academic Services, before a retake can be granted. If a student was absent on picture day – make up pictures will be taken tomorrow, Friday 11/3/2017 and students should bring a sports coat. A student wanting a retake must bring original packet to Academic Services.

Surgeon General Warning:  Vaping and E-Cigarettes are Dangerous

  • Vaping liquids contain dangerous chemicals like diacetyl, a chemical flavorant linked to serious lung disease and formaldehyde, a chemical found in anti-freeze.

 

  • Vaping chemicals are meant to become addictive and/or lead to regular tobacco smoking.

 

  • Vaping does harm memory and brain development. There is no long-term research to verify long-term safety.

All students in the Green Cross Service Club and those interested in service hours: Green Cross is looking for students to help out with the Project Warm Blitz on Saturday, Nov. 4 helping to winterize the homes of the elderly and disabled. We also need a team of volunteers the following week on Saturday, Nov. 11 to drive with us to the Gethsemane Abbey in Bardstown to do a good day of outdoor landscaping and clean-up work for the Brothers of the Monastery. Please see Mr. Budniak for details and an information sheet about each project you are interested in helping!

The annual March for Life will take place in Washington, DC January 19. This 3-day event includes a youth mass with over 30,000 participants and the March for Life at the US Capitol, a visit to the Basilica, as well as some general sightseeing. Students pay only $100 for travel and meals. With only $50 due at sign-up. If you would like to attend, please see Mrs. McGuire in S151 this week!

UPS seasonal positions available to 17-year-olds and up for winter break. The pay is $10.20 per hour plus an additional $200 per week attendance bonus. Contact Shelly Martin at shellymartin@ups.com or 502-359-1804 for additional information.

Junior Retreats have started! Not sure when you go? Check the rosters posted outside Campus Ministry offices and in your theology classrooms. On your retreat day, report to the cafeteria instead of first block. You can dress down in jeans, a collared shirt or Trinity t-shirt, and sneakers. You’ll be off campus all day and lunch is included.

House News

The House video game tournament will take place on Thursday, Nov. 16. Those students interested in participating in the tournament are invited to attend a meeting this Thursday afternoon in F344 to choose this year’s game. Past games have included Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and FIFA. Remember that each House may have four participants. Names must be submitted to me by Thursday, Nov. 9. More details on the tournament rules will follow this Thursday’s meeting.

Activity News

Attention all freshmen not involved in basketball swimming, wrestling, ice hockey or lacrosse here at Trinity:

Sign-ups for the freshmen intramural basketball league will begin this Thursday, November 2 and run through Friday, November 10. Students may sign up during first lunch in the cafeteria and before or after school in Shamrock Gym. Any student not involved in basketball, swimming, wrestling, ice hockey or lacrosse here at Trinity is eligible. You will play as a member of your House. There is a $35 fee, preferably paid by check at the time you sign up. The fee includes your “house team shirt” and at least seven games plus the tournament. Most of the freshmen division games will be played in December, before Christmas break.

By popular demand, the library’s Halloween makerspace activities will also be available today during Advising and after school.

The Investment Club will meet Wednesday, November 14 at 3 p.m. in S352. See Coach Schroeder for more information.

The World Language Clubs will have their annual bowling competition at Ten Pin Lanes on Wednesday, November 8 from 3:15-4:30 p.m. Please meet in F237 right after school. Be sure and bring $10-$15.

Dunk Club: Our next trips to Sky Zone are Friday, Nov. 17, and Friday, Dec. 1 after school. You MUST have a permission form to dunk with us. You also need a Sky Zone waiver. See Ms. Flipper soon if you need a ride. Follow us on twitter: @dunk_club.

Reminder that Video Game Club is the 1st, 3rd, & 5th Tuesday of the month. New members are always welcome. That’s Video Game Club Tuesday, Nov 7, immediately after school in room D222.

The Axiom magazine is looking for visual artists to create art for magazine spreads and Axiom events. Interested? See Ms. Flipper in S356.

Athletic News

The Bowling Rocks defeated Desales 6 to 1. With wins over DeSales and Seneca, the Rocks move to 2-0 on the season. Rolling 200 games against DeSales were Seniors Brennan Dalgren at 213 and Ian Karman at 216 and 203. Next match is Nov. 8 against PRP at Dixie Bowl.
