Former Trinity Teacher Helps WWII Vet Get Recognized

John Kahl ’69 graduated from Trinity, then returned to his alma mater and taught for four decades. But before he even began as a student at Trinity, his future father-in-law, now 94-year-old Roscoe Kerr, was serving his country during World War II.

When Kerr was hospitalized for an extended stay following his service, he was discharged, but the medals he earned were never given to him. When Mr. Kahl heard the details of the story, he began a quest to recover the medals, and surprised his father-in-law with a formal recognition on Thursday, Sept. 21.

Watch the video of Mr. Kerr being presented the medals he earned after all these years.
