Comedy is a craft, and a noble one. It comforts the afflicted, afflicts the comfortable, highlights injustice, and speaks truth to power. Who’s never been gladdened by a joke while having a bad day?
Comedy Club members meet once a week after school to learn the basics of sketch, improvisation, and stand-up comedy. Students practice comedy-writing skills, develop new material, create original characters, and hone their comic timing. Billed as the Shamrock Players, members produce their own material via live and recorded performances throughout the year.
Students with strong video editing, directing, and stop-motion animation skills are enthusiastically invited to join. Other special talents, including musical abilities, body contortion, and freestyle rapping, are also enthusiastically welcome.
