The Swim & Dive Team returns most of it scoring student-athletes from last year’s squad. Second year coach Mike Essig ’85 plans to have an even stronger showing at the state meet in 2019.
A very strong group of seniors will define the team, led by current state record holder Hunter Tapp (:43.99 in the 100 freestyle). Fellow seniors Jacob Bibeau, Luke Bunnell, Jacob Dray, and Nicholas Neumann will be key contributors, along with juniors Logan Thomas and Cole Gilkey, and sophomore Trent Kolter.
Once again, the Swim Rocks will host two of the top invitational meets in the state, Girls’ Night Out on December 21 and Rock the Block on Jan 19. Dozens of teams from several states routinely attend these meets. The squad will once again have a regular season schedule that includes several top schools from around the region, including Castle, Noblesville, and Fishers in Indiana, and Mason, Ohio. Competition begins for the Swim & Dive Team on December 7 at the Eastern High School Holiday Care-a Van meet at the University of Louisville.
