2020-21 Tennis Outlook
Coach Chris Mather ‘86 will be returning for his 12th season as Trinity Head Tennis Coach. Coach Mather originally had planned to retire after the 2020 season. However, the pandemic has caused some changes in his personal life, his coaching life and his business life. He has purchased a home in Scottsdale, AZ, and will spend much of his time there. At the same time, with Trinity coaching and still owning and operating The Tennis Club at Springhurst, he will split time between Scottsdale and Louisville. Coach Mather will coordinate the tryouts, the scheduling, tournaments and postseason for the Tennis Rocks.
Coach Shayne Hull will return as Assistant Coach / Head JV Coach this coming season. Coach Hull will coordinate the JV team practices and matches, along with assisting the varsity team.
New to the staff this year will be Assistant Coach Phil Chaney. Coach Chaney is the father of junior team member Ryan Chaney. Coach Chaney has an extensive background as a tennis professional and coach, along with being a high level player. Coach Chaney will assist both the varsity and JV teams with practices and matches.
Trinity Tennis will have tryouts starting in mid-February at The Tennis Club at Springhurst. The team will utilize The Tennis Club at Springhurst, Tom Sawyer State Park, and also Crescent Hill Park for matches and practices this coming season.
The Tennis Rocks will be looking to start pre-season activities in January – both on and off court.
