2018-19 Basketball Rocks Schedule Announced

Trinity High School, the KHSAA 7th Region boys’ basketball defending champion, announces its 2018-19 varsity basketball schedule. The schedule will feature top 20 competition from Kentucky, along with out of state trips to Ohio and Tennessee.

As part of the regular season game schedule, the Basketball Rocks will take on several top 20 programs from within Kentucky: Fern Creek, Lexington Catholic, Lexington Christian Academy, Madison Central and state runner-up Scott County. The regular season schedule also includes a trip to Ohio to face the Centerville Elks and a January showdown with rival St. Xavier at Bellarmine University.

The tournament schedule is as strong as ever and will see Trinity return to the King of the Bluegrass, recognized as one of the top high school holiday tournaments in the country, a tournament that the Rocks have won twice before (2009, 2016) and where the Rocks finished as runner-up last season; the Arby’s Classic in Bristol, TN, a top regional tournament won by Trinity in 2016; and the Louisville Invitational Tournament (LIT), featuring the top teams within metro Louisville.

Once the post season begins, Trinity will face competition in the 7th Region, as challenging as any in Kentucky, as the team competes for a regional crown and a trip to the KHSAA Sweet 16.

Director of Athletics Rob Saxton stated, “We look forward to taking on such an interesting and competitive schedule. Some of these teams and tournaments are very familiar to our coaches, players and fans. The level of difficulty is something we seek.”

Head Coach Mike Szabo said, “Our goals each year are to become the best team we can be and then to compete for a state championship. A schedule such as this will help prepare our young men for competition in the 7th Region, and, hopefully a trip to Rupp Arena in March.”
