Office News:

Students interested in traveling to Japan, there will be an informational meeting Tuesday, August 27 at 7 p.m. in the library with Mr. Sobczyk.

Do you ride the TARC?  Do you do research for your classes?  If the answer to at least one of these questions is yes, you need a Power+Plus card. This Power+Plus card gives you the discounted student TARC rate and works as the Louisville Free Public Library’s library card, giving you access to their vast collection of books and databases. To get one, see Mrs. deGolian in the library or have your advisor send her your name.  Our goal is for everyone to have one.

House News:

The Trinity Faculty and Staff Trivia Challenge will be the first House contest of the school year. The contest will take place during Advising on Thursday, August 29. This fun and fast-paced trivia game will test how much Advising groups know about Trinity’s faculty and staff.  The House with the highest overall score will receive 20 points. The top five Advising groups will receive pop tarts and milk.

The varsity football team’s home opener against Carmel is the first House marquee event of the school year. The game will take place on Friday, August 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Marshall Stadium. Use the “Trinity Shamrocks” app to check in during the game and earn your House a point. Those students who check in will be entered in a raffle to receive $10 gift cards to Jimmy John’s.

Activities:

New and returning Beta Club members are needed to work Mini- Schedule night next Thursday August 22 from 7-9. Please see Mr. Koopman or Mr. Aberli to sign up.

Students interested in being a part of the Department of Theatre Arts, there is a meeting during advising Thursday, Aug. 15.  This is for anyone interested in joining.

Join the Senior Flag Corps it only takes about 20 minutes of your time before each home football game.  Think about it – it looks great on your resume` and doesn’t take much time at all.  See or email Mrs. Mason in the Technology Center on the bottom floor of Old Trinity Hall.

Look around you. You are surrounded by a world full of electronics? But how does it all work? Would you like to gain more insight into this subject? If so, sign up for the Electronics Club with Mr. CM in F332. This hands-on club includes activities like soldering, de-soldering components, and the assembling of small circuits for various applications, and in the process you can learn some of the basics of electricity and electronics. This club will meet every other Tuesday.

Are you interested in flying, airplanes and flight simulators? Then you may consider joining the Tim’s Flying Club. The club will meet every other week on Thursdays throughout the year. If interested, sign up with Mr CM in room F332 after school.

Students, if you feel that a career in architecture, engineering or construction work may be in your future, then the ACE is just for you. What is ACE? ACE mentoring program provides students with an opportunity to collaborate and learn from professionals in the field of design and construction. Experts will share advice and valuable skills about what’s needed to be successful.  You will also complete an actual project and have the chance to make good contacts and earn scholarship money at the end of the process. If you are interested in learning more about ACE, then please see Mr. CM in F332. Also, those students who were in the program last year need to reconfirm their interest by signing up again. The ACE club will meet every other Wednesday, and the first meeting will be early next month.

If you are interested in Ping Pong, you can join the ping pong club. The ping pong club meets every other Thursday from 3:10 to 4:10 in the convocation hall. Please sign up with Mr. CM, ASAP in room F332. The club meets in the convocation hall.

Are you looking to learn a new game this year? Then, Join the Cricket club. No prior knowledge of the game is needed. This game will be played in the Shamrock hall, after school on Tuesdays. If interested, you may sign up ASAP with Mr. CM in room F332. The first meeting will be next Tuesday.

The first meeting of the D&D Club will be Friday, August 30 from 2 – 3:30 in the library!  See Mr. Greenwell in room F232 for more details. 

Athletics:

Attention all students interested in becoming a member of the Trinity Bass Fishing Team: We will have an organizational meeting next Tuesday at 6:30 in Shamrock Hall Gym. Information for becoming a team member will be given at this time. A parent is expected to attend this meeting along with any future Trinity angler. Once again, an informational meeting for joining the fishing team will be held in Shamrock Gym on Tuesday, Aug. 20 beginning at 6:30.

Attention everyone, but especially freshman! It’s not too late to join Trinity’s defending state champion Cross Country team! The sport of distance running that has the incredibly ability to both foster community and teamwork while also pushing individuals to their personal limits and goals.  Cross Country truly is an amazing sport.
