Attention Trinity: Are you interested to have an intercultural experience with students from Argentina here at Trinity on February 2020 and to travel to Argentina in June? The Catholic Education Foundation is hosting an essay contest that could earn you $1000.

  • The theme of this year’s essay is “Catholic Schools – Learn, Live, Serve, Succeed”.

CEF is inviting ALL young Trinity authors to express how our Catholic schools have fulfilling these important roles.

  • The contest is open to all students in Catholic high schools throughout the Archdiocese of Louisville.


  • All entries should be printed and turned in to Betsy Darby in room S352.


  • Entries are due by Friday, November 15th. 


  • All submissions will be judged. One winning essay will be chosen from Trinity and submitted as part of the contest by the December 5th deadline.


  • Students should take advantage of Mitch Greenwell’s Writing Workshop for prewriting and editing help. The writing workshop is available Monday through Thursday from 3 to 3:30 in room F232.


  • Students may also work with Mr. Greenwell in advising.


  • Students should see Ms. Darby in S352 or Mr. Timmerberg in S356 if they have questions.


Mark your calendars now – Trinity’s Fall Red Cross Blood Drive is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6.  Anyone 16 years of age and older can donate blood here at school that day.  More details will be coming soon.

The Student Affairs Office offers a friendly reminder to use the Shelbyville Rd crosswalk only, before and after school when the crossing guard is present. At all other times please use the crossing at the corner of Shelbyville Rd and St. Matthews Ave.

Dare to Care drive runs thru October 31. The priority is cash donations and high nutrition canned foods. Checks may be made out to Trinity High School or Dare to Care. Collections done thru advising groups. All Donations are tax deductible.

Mass or a communion service is offered in the chapel at 7:20 every morning before school.

Mr. Diehl will be selling books before school on Monday, Thursday and Friday and after school every day. If you need to purchase a book, please see him in the cafeteria by Academic Service during one of these times.

House News:

The second quarter House marquee events and contests will begin after Fall Break. The quarter will feature three marquee events and five contests.

Marquees will include the

  • Trinity Department of Theatre Arts production of The Three Musketeers from October 30 to November 9


  • Varsity basketball game against Centerville on December 7


  • Trinity Department of Music Vocal and Jazz Band Winter Concerts on December 13 and 15.


Contests will feature:

  • Annual House Football Pass-Kick Contest on October 31


  • Annual House Video Game Tournament on November 14.


  • Thanksgiving-themed Breakout Contest on November 25


  • Christmas TV and Movie Trivia Challenge on December 9.


  • Principal Challenge contest will also take place during the second quarter. Each House will design its own crest. These crests will be displayed on House banners as well as promotional materials for the House System.

Do your part to help your House win a spot in this year’s House Cup Playoffs. See your House Director or Advisor if you’d like to learn more about any of this quarter’s marquee events and contests.


The Green Cross Service Club is looking for some volunteers to help out with a tree planting project next Saturday, Nov. 2 from 8:00 AM until early afternoon.  Any students looking to complete service hours can see Mr. Budniak in Room F135 for permission forms and details….

Your Trinity quick recall team travelled to Mercy last week.  The Varsity team was led by Jack McCalpin.  Jack put on a clinic answering questions in each academic category and accounting for 12 of the Rock’s 23 halftime points as the team led 23-2.  Nick Huls, Riley Moremen and Dylan Fox also played well in the first half.  The team subbed the whole lineup at halftime and Aden Yeager, Bryce Thomson and Hunter Ruckriegel played especially well, each scoring 2 or more answers as the team won 35-7.

JV quick recall team defeated Mercy by a score of 25 to 17.  It was a slow start for the Rocks, but Sophomore Sam Arnold came off the bench to turn things around and tied for most points with Krish Gupta.    New commers Jack Corbett, Ethan Brunton and Russell Glass all contributed.  Mainstays like Trevor Antle, Paul Springer, Matthew Fisher and Zach Young also helped in the win.

This week, the Rocks host Providence on Thursday.  Matches will start about 3:45 in Mr. Amick’s and Mr. Rand’s rooms and fans are welcome.

Attention guitar players – the Guitar Club will meet today, Oct. 23, after school in room C271 – that’s the room right next to Convocation Hall. Players of any ability level are welcome. Remember, you can bring your instrument to the music room or to Mr. Daniel’s room D223 in the morning if you like. Meetings last about 45 minutes. Come to the meeting today, Oct. 23, and see what the Guitar Club has to offer!

Attention all Flying rocks…

The Tim’s Flying Club will meet in Mr. CM’s room F332 tomorrow, Oct. 24, after school, from 3 to 4 pm. Come on time and get ready to FLY.

Attention ACE rocks: The third ACE mentoring class will be held on Wednesday, October 30, in Mr. CM’s room F332, immediately after school. Those who have signed up for the club are also reminded to register online at acementor.org ASAP, if you have not done so. The meeting will last until 5 PM starting at 3 PM.

SKI SEASON IS ALMOST HERE!!  Any students interested in joining the Ski and Snowboard Club need to stay after school tomorrow, Oct. 24, in the cafeteria for the BIG information meeting.  We will meet in the cafeteria at 3:00 PM to go over Paoli discount pass purchasing, riding the Paoli bus and all requirements for the club including deadlines.  If you can’t make this meeting, you better have someone there to get info for you!!

The Book Club will meet on Monday, October 28 @ 3pm in the library.

Refreshments will be available along with great conversation.  For more information, see Mr. Schum in F-245.

Trinity’s Robotics club meets every Monday after school in the Technology Center.  We have Lego Mindstorms and VEX equipment.  Come check us out.

The speech and debate team will start regular practices after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  Anyone interested should see Ms. Z in F233 starting this week.   Have a conflict?   Contact Ms. Z for options.  For updates, sign up for the team remind by texting the message @sdrocks19 to the phone number 81010.


If you are interested in shooting archery this year and have not signed up yet, please do so outside Mr. Rapp’s room F141 by Friday. Practice will begin in early November.
