Your Trinity academic team made history this weekend. For the first time in 20 years, the Trinity Shamrocks won District in Governor’s Cup. St. X has held the crown going back to the 1990s but no more.  Competing against St. X, Collegiate and Sacred Heart, the Rocks face perhaps the toughest District in Kentucky. The quick recall team of Luke McFarland, Henry Mullins, Nick Huls, David Gregory, Sammy Mattingly, Spencer Brown and Jack McCalpin dominated the field, ending the day with a 38-17 beating of St. X to win the quick recall title. That makes the quick recall team 5-0 versus St X this year. But many individuals played a role in bringing glory to the Shamrocks too.

Placing for the Rocks were:

Luke McFarland: 1st in Language Arts and 3rd in Arts & Humanities

Eric Brian: 1st in Social Studies

Henry Mullins: 2nd in Arts & Humanities

Nick Thevenin: 2nd in Math

Bruno Santic: 2nd in English composition

David Gregory: 3rd in Math

Nick Huls: 4th in Language Arts and 5th in Social Studies

Sammy Mattingly: 4th in Science

Dylan Fox: 4th in Arts & Humanities

The Future Problem Solving team of Justin DePrado, Christopher Elder, Ben Taylor, and Nico Rechenberg finished 2nd and will advance to Region.”

Submissions are already flurrying in for the Axiom’s Let It Snow contest – get yours in by Feb. 15. If you’ve got other great fiction, poetry, photos and videos that don’t relate to snow, The Axiom wants them as well! If you’ve done a cool piece in art class, send us a color photo of that as well. Everybody appreciates culture of all types…well maybe not Mr. Waggoner but most of us. Remember, Chick Fil A gift cards are on the line.
