With just under a month until the beginning of the 2019 General Assembly, EdChoice KY is gearing up to secure passage of a Scholarship Tax Credit program this year! In preparation, we wanted to share important dates and key information you might be interested in!

EdChoice KY Polling Data Released
Findings from the 2018 Educational Choice poll show a majority of voters support Scholarship Tax Credits—62 percent, including majorities in key demographics, regions, and political parties. The polling shows that more than 70 percent of voters believed Kentucky’s education system needed significant changes with 65 percent of voters supporting expanded educational choice programs in Kentucky. 2019 General Assembly Overview
The 2019 General Assembly will gavel in on January 8 and go through March 29. The session will consist of 30 legislative days with Part I of the session convening January 8-11, and Part II spanning from February 5- March 29. Last week, two previous Scholarship Tax Credit bill sponsors were elected into House Leadership – Rep. Bam Carney was elected House Floor Leader and Rep. Chad McCoy was elected Majority Whip.

With many new faces in the General Assembly, EdChoice KY will soon be calling on you to reach out to your legislators to educate them on the importance of School Choice and share your thoughts on why Scholarship Tax Credits will benefit Kentucky. To make 2019 the year that our legislation passes, we will need you engaged!

Each event will feature a wide variety of speakers and school choice supporters coming together to highlight the overwhelming support for putting students first in Kentucky.
