Recent Trinity Grad A National Champion

Walker Evans ’20 specializes in impromptu speaking. “It’s what I did for the Trinity Speech and Debate Team. I love it. I’m never given more than a minute-and-a-half to prepare and without the support of Trinity and Coach Zuccaro, I would have never been as confident to do this particular event.” Yet, even for someone as comfortable under pressure as Walker, it still felt surreal when he learned he was an FBLA Impromptu Speaking National Champion! “I was very surprised but incredibly happy!”

Walker was given a question and ten minutes to prepare a speech that he would record live. That speech would get sent around to the judges and scored. “I felt good when I got the prompt. I’m used to the time frame, so I never spent more than three minutes preparing a speech and I was always comfortable giving those speeches. To be a national champion is just such a cool way to end my career at Trinity High School!”

Walker will attend American University in the fall where he will study International Affairs as a part of the Global Scholars Program.

Congrats, Walker! Best of luck!
