The Speech and Debate Rocks were back at it again on Friday and Saturday, competing in the Kentucky National Speech and Debate Association District (state) tournament. This tournament qualifies the top two students in the state in each event for the national tournament in June.
Travelling to nationals in Dallas are: Porter Hunt, who placed second in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking and third in Congress; Mark Hughes, who placed second in International Extemporaneous Speaking; and Walker Evans, who WON the Senate. With the help of teammate Gus Boyer (semis in Humorous Interpretation), all four claimed the District Sweepstakes Award in Congress.
(For those keeping track, this is the second year in a row a Trinity student has won the Senate – last year Cooper Winrich took those honors.)
