The Basketball Rocks weren’t the only Shamrock team claiming awards this past weekend. Members of the Speech and Debate team traveled to LaRue County to compete in the Kentucky Catholic Forensic League State Tournament.
In addition to being a state tournament, students placing in the top six in each event qualify to compete at the National Catholic Forensic League Grand National Tournament over Memorial Day weekend.
Walker Evans placed 7th in Congress and will serve as alternate.
Mark Hughes placed 4th in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Gus Boyer placed 2nd Dramatic Performance.
Porter Hunt qualified in two different events, but students are only allowed to compete in one event at nationals. He placed 6th in Lincoln-Douglas debate WON Extemporaneous Speaking. He will compete in Lincoln-Douglas.
Mark, Gus and Porter are each headed to NATIONALS in Milwaukee!
These three guys earned 4th place in overall team sweepstakes for Speech.
