Trinity Golf Season Comes to a Close

After a state runner up finish in 2019, and a state championship in 2020, Coach James Chaney ’07 and Trinity Golf were hoping for another trip down I65 to the state tournament in Bowling Green. However, a third consecutive Region Championship was not in the cards as Trinity placed fifth this week in the Region Tournament at the Nevel Meade Golf Club. (A special shout out to Trinity Assistant Golf Coach Pat Heitz ’73 who also served as the Region Tournament Director.  Pat executed a first-class Region Tournament).

Despite falling short at Region, Trinity Golf and our (3) seniors, Peyton Bonny, Drew Tinsley and Zach Wilson, had a very solid year.  The team played a competitive state wide schedule, traveling to Bowling Green, Danville, Lexington, Richmond, etc… seeking the best tournaments on the most challenging courses. Over the course of the season the Golf Rocks placed in the top-3 in (14) different tournaments, winning twice.

Coach Chaney is sorry to lose Peyton, Drew and Zach to graduation. These seniors have been an important part of a fantastic multiyear run for Trinity Golf. At the same time, the Shamrocks Golf roster is complete with very talented underclassmen who will work hard in the off season as they prepare for the 2022 high school golf season and another run at a KHSAA state title.

Go Golf Rocks.
