The Trinity academic team has had a great couple of weeks! Last Thursday the Rocks hosted a quality St. Francis team and both JV and Varsity came away victorious. The Rocks are currently undefeated in league play at both levels.
Recently, the freshmen and sophomore Rocks competed in the JV Challenge. The quick recall team finished third in a very competitive field. Because JV Challenge is a team event that also comprises written test, on the strength of test performances and the quick recall points, Trinity was crowned JV Challenge champions for the 3rd year in a row and 4th out of the last 6 years!
Placing for the Rocks were:
Science
Ethan Brunton – Champion and Top 10 in the State
Chris Paris – 2nd
Math
Paul Springer – Champion
Krish Gupta – 4th
Ethan Brunton – 5th
Social Studies
Russell Glass – Champion
Zach Young – 3rd
Language Arts
Michael Massey – 4th
Arts & Humanities
Krish Gupta – 2nd
English Composition
Matthew Chou – Champion
As for varsity competition, Coach Mark Amick is thrilled with how the season has started. “We’ve started the season undefeated in our league. We defeated a really strong Sacred Heart team and were tied 15-15 at halftime with St. X last week before outscoring them 22-7 in the second half and winning 37-22. For perspective, there are 80 questions in a match, so getting 37 means our guys got almost half the questions ourselves.”
Keep up the GreaT work, Rocks!
