Lucas Murphy ’20 was awarded his Eagle Scout on October 8. Lucas is a member of Troop # 42 at Saint Raphael parish, his home church. Lucas discovered that the Boys and Girls Haven had an old tennis court that hadn’t been used in a decade. Securing donations from local businesses, Lucas tore out the poles in the tennis court, cleaned the surrounding area and decided to make a full length basketball court for the residents. He received basketball goals from Steepleton and concrete from Lowes. Lucas dug the holes for the goals, then set the poles and the backboards. The next week, Lucas resurfaced the entire court.
Lucas said this about his project, “ I was happy to do this for the children at Boys and Girls Haven because I believe it will serve as a place to vent their emotions from their everyday struggles. The court will also allow components of teamwork and bonding. This should help change the lives of hundreds, maybe thousands of kids in our community.”
At Trinity, Lucas is a Student Ambassador, an Advanced placement student, a pitcher on the Varsity baseball team, a member of the Beta Club, Executive House Captain for Becket House, and he plays intramural basketball.
Congratulations to Lucas! Trinity is proud of you!
