At Trinity, we are committed to forming men of faith, and men of character. Wednesday evening, the senior Trinity Soccer Rocks emphasized that mission by hosting the Father/Son Jersey ceremony.
Partnering with SportsLeader, led by the Trinity Director of Sports Ministry, Steve Tompkins, Coach Dale Helfrich and the senior Soccer Rocks met in the chapel with their fathers for a special ceremony. The ceremony, a product of Trinity’s commitment to Sports Ministry and their partnership with the SportsLeader organization, provides a forum for Shamrocks Dads to present their son with his game jersey for the season, while also reinforcing their love and pride for their sons. Tears flowed and memories were made!
Head Trinity Soccer Coach Dale Helfrich: The Father/Son Ceremony is always a great evening for our team. To see grown men stand up in front of the entire team to tell their son how proud they are of them, to show emotion and vulnerability, is a great lession in character building for us all. I cannot think of a better way to start the season!
Trinity Director of Sports Ministry, Steve Tompkins: It’s nights like this that are so special for a father and a son. We can take some time out of our busy schedules and talk to our sons and tell them how proud we are of them. This SportsLeader program reaffirms we are not just after the wins and losses. This is an opportunity to bring Christ into these young men’s lives. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate that Father/Son or Family Member/Son relationship.
