From June 17-22, recent alumnus Cooper Winrich ‘18 competed in the National Speech and Debate Association’s annual national tournament in Fort Lauderdale. As Kentucky’s state champion in the Senate, a sub-group of Congressional Debate, Cooper was the only student out of the four representatives to advance to elimination rounds. He advanced through semi-finals, placing him in the top 70 in a field of more than 200.
In addition, he was elected to serve as Presiding Officer in both preliminary and semi-final rounds.
