Summer Reading
Summer Reading Program
Welcome to Trinity’s All-School Summer Read
The Science Department and the Library Media Center are pleased to announce that our 2023-24 summer reading selection is The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (Young Reader’s Edition) by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer.
This book is an absorbing memoir of a budding scientist who used his knowledge of electricity, which he learned in his Malawian village’s small library, to bring power to his community. School Library Journal called it “a dynamic portrait of a young person whose connection to the land, concern for his community, and drive to solve problems offer an inspiring model.” We’re confident all Trinity students will find something to love and ponder in this excellent book.
When school starts in August, students will have an assignment to complete in their science classes and will be expected to attend breakout sessions led by teachers.
These sessions are a staple of our summer reading program and help students make connections between the book and other content areas.
