George Ann Lamb
When you lose a child, it is a very numbing time. In the middle of all the pain, while we were at the funeral home, a thought brought me out of my daze and it was to start a scholarship in Greg’s name at Trinity.
He was a member of the class of ‘79 and very proud of that. Starting the scholarship seemed like a way to make something positive out of such a painful time. It has always given my family and me a great deal of joy and pride to be part of the 1953 Society Dinner and meet the young men who receive the scholarship. To know that we are somehow helping a student receive a Catholic education is very heartwarming. Some of the recipient parents have told me that, without this help, their son might not have been able to return for his senior year.
We are not wealthy, so the funding has been slow over the years and when the opportunity to make the scholarship the beneficiary of my life insurance arose, it seemed like a good way to give a large sum to the scholarship. I would encourage families to make Trinity part of their estate planning. It is a wonderful way to do a good thing.
I remember telling Mr. Peter Flaig H‘00 that if all the Lambs disappeared from the face of the earth, that as long as Trinity High School survived, my son’s name would be remembered each year. His memory would live forever! Trinity… forever!
