Rob Saxton to Retire

Sean Duggins to become Director of Athletics

Dr. Rob Mullen, President of Trinity High School, announced that Director of Athletics Rob Saxton will retire in June. Saxton has worked at the school for more than 20 years, first as a basketball coach, then as Director of Finance and Administration, then as Associate AD to Coach Dennis Lampley and then as AD after Dennis retired.

Mullen stated, “Rob Saxton has been a vital part of Trinity in every role he has held. He has been an important part of my senior team providing mature, values-based leadership. Many of the advantages we enjoy today flow from his work at Trinity. I am very happy for Rob and his wife Monica as they embark on this new season.

“One of Rob’s gifts to Trinity has been his mentoring of Sean Duggins while Sean served as our Associate Director of Athletics. I am grateful that Sean is accepting his new role as our Director of Athletics. This will make for a smooth transition, especially since Rob has agreed to serve as a consultant to the Athletics Department going forward.”

Duggins, a 2004 graduate of Trinity, played varsity sports while a student. He returned to teach and coach at Trinity before stepping into athletics administration these past six years. He will oversee a department with more than 20 varsity sports, most of which have a junior varsity and freshman team, and more than 100 coaches.

Duggins remarked, “I am honored and grateful to be chosen for this new position. I look forward to ensuring that our student-athletes and coaches keep their participation in athletics aligned with our school’s mission. We will continue to strive to compete at the highest levels while forming men of faith and men of character.”

A successor to Duggins will be sought first within the school.
