Trinity High School announces its 2026-27 varsity basketball schedule. The schedule will feature top competition from Kentucky and around the Midwest, two nationally respected holiday events in Northern Kentucky and the Cincinnati area and the always challenging Louisville Invitational Tournament.
As part of the regular season game schedule, the Basketball Rocks will take on several top 20 programs from within Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee to include Moeller, Covington Catholic, Lexington Catholic, Male, North Oldham along with former state champions Highlands and Lyon County in addition to the annual January showdown with rival St. Xavier at Trinity.
The tournament schedule is as strong as ever and will see Trinity in the Queen City Hoops Fest and the Beacon Holiday Hardwood Classic in Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area and the Louisville Invitational Tournament (LIT), featuring the top teams within metro Louisville.
Once the post season begins, Trinity will face competition in the 7th Region, as challenging a region as any in Kentucky, as the team competes to earn a trip back to the KHSAA Sweet 16.
Director of Athletics Sean Duggins stated, “We are excited and grateful for another season of Trinity basketball. Our program has a proud tradition of competing at the highest levels. At Trinity, we believe tough competition makes us tougher. It challenges our coaches and players, exposes areas that need improvement, and prepares us for the moments that matter most in February and March. Our expectations are high, both on and off the court. We want to compete for championships, but we also want to develop young men of faith and character who understand what it means to represent Trinity. Coach Saxton, his staff, and our student-athletes embrace those expectations, and I’m excited to see what this group can accomplish together.”
Head Coach Bret Saxton said, “With an exciting blend of talented underclassmen and a strong core of senior culture-setters, Trinity Basketball is excited to get to work. Our schedule features a competitive mix of some of the best teams in Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee while the 7th Region remains one of the most talented and challenging regions in the entire state. We understand the sacrifices that great teams are willing to make for one another, and we look forward to setting that tone through servant leadership while embracing the Class of 2027’s theme of ‘Striving to Serve.’”
From Shamrocks senior Sutton Hill, “I am looking forward to stepping into more of a leadership role on this team. I think we have a special group and can make a deep run this year. We have a very talented team and are willing to do what it takes to compete at a high level. Our coaches are doing a great job of preparing us and we are up to the challenges they bring to us every day in practice. We are ready to compete day in and day out to accomplish our goals this season.”
From Shamrocks junior Jaidan Bartlett, “We're really excited for the season and the opportunity to play against another highly competitive schedule and compete for a 7th Region championship. We are willing to work hard, sacrifice for each other, and continue improving every day. We’re ready to embrace the challenges ahead and live out our theme ‘Strive to Serve’.”
