Trinity alumni Ultimate Uno Club veterans returned to campus on a rainy May 5 to battle the Ultimate Uno Club King, Dr. Dan Zoeller H’07, in his final match before retiring. Ben Siegel ’08 and Ted Madden ’08, founding members of the Ultimate Uno Club, made surprise appearances to attempt to take down the King in the classic card game. Faculty members Scott Holzknecht ’97 and Matt Manning ’86 also joined the fray.

The Ultimate Uno Club meets after school once per month. Dr. Zoeller and his Uno Heroes hold court, talk trash and have a great time. It’s another way our faculty connect and make memories with our students beyond the classroom.

Trinity Alumni Class Agents spent the morning of April 25 sorting medical supplies at Supplies Overseas. The organization annually collects over a half a million pounds of surplus medical supplies and equipment that would otherwise go to landfills and uses them to improve medical care and access worldwide.

Trinity has a long history with Supplies Overseas. For years, our students have volunteered at its facilities and raised money for the organization. Also, Supplies Overseas President and CEO Denise Sears received the Trinity Peace Medal in 2024 for her work. Denise’s son, Mark, is a 2024 alumnus.

The Alumni Association coordinates a fall and spring service project. Be on the lookout for information regarding a fall community service project.

Alumnus Dr. Matthew Tewell ’10 spoke with Trinity’s student government representatives on April 20. Matthew is a Louisville-area dentist and a Class Agent. Trinity teacher Chad Waggoner H’20 moderates student government, which is coordinated through the House System.

He spoke about transitioning from one Trinity school year to the next. For freshmen, it means no longer being the youngest in school. For sophomores, it means a step up in leadership and maturity. Juniors will soon be seniors, and with that comes the responsibility of leading the school.

Matthew spoke about emulating people they admire. He also encouraged students to “make the jump.” No one is ever fully ready for life’s next challenge.

Additionally, Matthew asked the students to ask the question “Why not me?” when it comes to success. He explained that everyone is winging it in one way or another; not everyone has everything completely figured out.

Finally, Matthew asked students to pray, ask God for guidance and to give themselves plenty of grace.
