John shared his medical journey with Trinity students. Starting with Mr. Budniak’s AP biology class to earning his bachelor’s degree and now studying medicine. John discussed time management, the value of taking AP courses in high school, volunteering in the medical field, study habits in medical school and having the intense desire to be a doctor.
The Pre-Med Society is moderated by Trinity teacher Mike Budniak H’11.
As you are likely aware, we are now almost a month into a shutdown of the federal government. As the weeks go by, a number of concerns increase in urgency. This week, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops joined with many others in raising the alarm about imminent interruptions to food programs, particularly the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
The USCCB is encouraging Catholics to contact our members of Congress and urge them to act quickly to ensure this funding is quickly restored.

Thank you for your commitment to Faithful Citizenship!

In addition to creating care packages for their sons away from home, many participants also prepared boxes for Trinity alumni currently serving in the military. Those packages will be mailed out this week.
“It makes me excited to imagine an alum receiving an unexpected package from their alma mater, thanking them for their service and letting them know how proud we are of them. I wish I could see their faces,” said Senior Development Officer and Alumni Moms Coordinator Michelle Walters H’17.
“I love that these women still want to stay connected to Trinity even after their sons have graduated,” Walters continued. “It speaks volumes about the special place they found at Trinity.”

Last Friday, October 24, 2025, Trinity welcomed the Class of 2015 back home for their 10-year reunion. We celebrated a GreaT senior class on the football field, and we were privileged enough to be joined by Coach Chuck Servino’s family and classmates to honor his life as they carried the flag before kickoff.
Coach Servino was a member of the Class of 1973. He was a high school All-American in football, competed in the Junior Olympics, and played running back for the University of Kentucky’s 1976-77 Peach Bowl team. Coach Servino contributed to eight state championships for the Shamrocks and dedicated most of his life as a teacher and coach at Trinity. He is a member of our Hall of Fame and received the Honor Alumnus Award in 2016. He was an excellent mentor and educator inside and outside of the classroom. Our community misses Coach Servino dearly.
This was another memorable evening on Shelbyville Road for many reasons. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our mission and this community.
Welcome home, classes of 2005 and 2015! These classes will celebrate their respective reunions this weekend.
It’s always special to welcome alumni home to campus! Class reunions are a great way to reconnect with classmates and the Alumni Association.
Since 1991, every Trinity graduating class has had an incremental five-year reunion. Few schools can say that.
For questions regarding class reunions, please contact Alumni Event Coordinator Bonnie Shellhamer at shellhamer@trinityrocks.com.
Are you a young Trinity alum? Join the Young Alumni Shamrock Society!
Alumni who graduated in the last 15 years – classes of 2010-25 – are invited to join an influential group of young, vibrant leaders who are helping to provide the Trinity experience to future generations of Shamrocks. In addition to supporting Trinity, the YASS benefits our brother alumni. We have quarterly events each year that provide opportunities for networking and socializing.

Congratulations, Daylen! Trinity Forever!

In 1956, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, an Irish-Catholic fraternal organization, created the Shillelagh as a trophy awarded to the winner of the Trinity-St. Xavier football game. They could not have known how big the game would become.
The Shillelagh is a cutting from a blackthorn bush in Ireland. A chain hanging from it contains silver medallions for a Trinity win and gold medallions for a St. X win. The year and score are engraved on the medallions. Trinity leads the overall series 50-41-2. The victorious school keeps the Shillelagh for the following year.
The Hibernians displayed the Shillelagh during lunch periods at Trinity on September 24.
The Shamrocks and Tigers will meet tonight at the University of Louisville’s L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium. Parking opens at 5 p.m., gates open at 6:30 p.m., with kickoff at 8 p.m.
GO ROCKS! BEAT ST. X!

The match itself was suspended due to lighting. It will resume at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 28, at Trinity’s Marshall Stadium.
GO ROCKS! BEAT ST. X!

First Trinity-St. X football game
As we celebrate Pride Week at Trinity, let’s look back at what started it all.
In September 1953, shortly after the school was founded, Trinity and St. Xavier High School’s freshman football teams met on the gridiron for the first time.
Trinity was originally known as Holy Trinity High School. We inherited the abandoned Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School building when they move to their current location on Cherrywood Road in St. Matthews. The “Holy” was dropped from the name several years after the school opened due to the confusion with Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School.
It was a hard-fought battle, but the Rocks prevailed by a score of 7-6. Dave Weber, Class of 1957, scored our first touchdown. The varsity Rocks defeated the Tigers for the first time in 1959.
GO ROCKS! BEAT ST. X!
