TailgatingParents – Trinity, St. X and UofL need your help.

Our school communities are proud of the rivalry between Trinity and St. Xavier. The annual varsity football game between these schools is one of the most anticipated and highly attended high school football games in the country. For many years we have been fortunate to partner with the University of Louisville to be able to play this game in a world class venue – the L & N Federal Credit Union Stadium, home to the Football Cardinals.

A festive and traditional honored part of this game is tailgating. The tailgating experience is a wonderful opportunity for alumni, students, families, and fans of each school to get together as the pre-game excitement builds. The tailgating experience must be a safe and secure environment for all fans. The University of Louisville provides security and police presence in and around the parking lots and the stadium. Administrators from Trinity and St. X send out communications asking fans to refrain from bringing alcohol to the tailgating experience for this game. A high school sporting event is not the place for alcohol consumption.

In recent years, unsupervised children in the parking lots during pre-game tailgating has created an unsafe environment. It is a danger to the children who are not supervised, and it is a danger to drivers of vehicles trying to navigate the parking lots.

In response to this issue, one major change will occur this year regarding pre-game tailgating:

  • The parking lots will now open at 5:00pm instead of 3:00pm.

The gates to the stadium will open at 6:30pm. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00pm.

We request any adult/s bringing children to the game for pre-game tailgating to supervise those children and not allow them to roam the parking lots or use the parking lots as a playground. We need your help as parents in creating a family friendly and safe environment.

Please help us by properly supervising children during pre-game tailgating.
