Join us for our weekly “Rock Reflections,” a series celebrating Trinity alumni. From all 50 states to countries worldwide, our graduates are making an impact, and we'll share their stories on Trinity's website and social media.

This week's profile is about Trevor Warren '18

Trevor Warren

Trevor came to Trinity from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. His father, Todd Warren ’91, and brother Logan ’20 also attended Trinity. His brother Parker is a Trinity senior.

As a student, Trevor was a member of Patrick House, National Honor Society and the Joseph of Arimathea Society. He earned Shamrock Awards for his academic achievements and was named to the Principal’s List. He also participated in track and cross country. He was named Most Valuable Runner for the cross country team his sophomore, junior and senior years. One of his favorite memories is winning the individual mile and two-mile races at the 2018 state championship track meet. The Rocks also won the team title. Trevor held the school records in the mile, 2-mile and 5K.

“The mile and two-mile records have since been broken, but I still hold the 5K track record – hopefully for not much longer!” Trevor said.

“Busy” is the word Trevor thinks about his Trinity days.

“Honestly, I’m not sure how I managed to balance school, sports and my social life, but attending Trinity for four years taught me how to create a schedule and prioritize my responsibilities as I moved on to college, law school and the real world,” he said.

“My dad always taught me to leave something better than I found it,” Trevor continued. “Holzki [Trinity teacher and head cross country coach Scott Holzknecht ’97] always tells me that the program would not be what it is without my contributions to the team during my four years, in terms of raising the bar. Furthermore, I don’t think I would have been as successful in college, law school or my new career as an attorney without my Trinity education.”

One of Trevor’s favorite teachers is Gary Owens ’88, who teaches English. Mr. Owens is known for being a tough teacher.

“He definitely lived up to that reputation,” Trevor said. “However, after taking his class my junior year, my writing abilities drastically improved. The lessons Mr. Owens taught me remain with me to this day and helped me in law school. I don’t think I would have made Louisville’s law review if I had not taken his class.”

What it means to work hard

Trevor maintains a close relationship with Mr. Holzknecht.

“Without Holzki, my life would be totally different because I don’t think I would have gone to run at UK. He taught me and everyone on the team what it meant to work hard. When I think back to some of the workouts he had us do, I wonder, ‘Did he actually make us do that?’ And he did, as evidenced by the track and cross country teams’ performance under his leadership. I still love getting some miles in with Holzki and talking about the glory days!”

After graduating from Trinity, Trevor attended the University of Kentucky on a track scholarship. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics in 2022. He was also named to the SEC and regional track rosters and the All-SEC team his sophomore year.

He then attended the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, earning his JD in 2025. He’s currently an associate attorney at Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC in Louisville.

Trevor contributes to the Trinity Annual Fund for financial aid because the support goes directly to Trinity students.

“All aid helps students who could not otherwise afford Trinity,” he said. “I contribute because I hate to think that someone whose life could be potentially changed by attending Trinity did not because of financial reasons.”

Trevor is involved with the Alumni Association as a volunteer Class Agent and a member of the Young Alumni Shamrock Society (YASS). The YASS is for alumni who graduated in the last 15 years.

“I’ve kept in touch with Trinity because I love seeing the success of the classes after me, especially athletically,” Trevor said. “While I was at Trinity, we never won the state cross country meet. Since I graduated in 2018, Trinity has won state three times.”

Trevor remembers his Trinity days as enlightening.

Education and faith formation

“While I was in law school, solely focused on studying law, I often reflected on my four years at Trinity, recalling the seven to eight different classes I would take simultaneously,” he said. “I’m not naturally skilled in math, language or science, so it amazes me that I was taking trigonometry, Spanish and physics. I’m not entirely sure how I managed such a diverse course load. However, this exposure gives Trinity alumni an edge over their peers when they move on to higher education or careers.”

Trevor also credits Trinity for its role in shaping his Catholic faith.

“Whether it's taking religion classes each semester, completing service hours or attending monthly school Mass, Trinity students understand what it means to be Catholic. However, Trinity does not force anyone to believe or think a certain way. Many students at Trinity are not Catholic, but I believe that exposure to the faith is ultimately beneficial, and most alumni value this experience.

“Getting that foundation at Trinity has made it easy for me to continue practicing my faith. Once you move away from your parents, with no one making you attend church on Sunday mornings or ensuring your service hours are completed, it can be easy to neglect these things. But my time at Trinity instilled in me that, as Catholics, this is what we are expected to do.”
