Varsity Basketball Schedule

Trinity High School announces its 2025-26 varsity basketball schedule. The schedule will feature top competition from Kentucky and around the Midwest, two nationally respected holiday events and the always challenging Louisville Invitational Tournament.

As part of the regular season game schedule, the Basketball Rocks will take on several top 20 programs from within Kentucky and Ohio to include Ballard, Moeller, Henry Clay, Covington Catholic, Lexington Catholic, Male and Madison Central, in addition to the annual January showdown with rival St. Xavier at St. Xavier High School.

The tournament schedule is as strong as ever and will see Trinity in the King of the Bluegrass again, recognized as one of the top high school holiday tournaments in the country, a trip up north to regional power Lima Senior in Ohio for their Lima Holiday Classic, and the Louisville Invitational Tournament (LIT), featuring the top teams within metro Louisville.

Once the post season begins, Trinity will face competition in the 7th Region, as challenging a region as any in Kentucky, as the team competes to earn a trip back to the KHSAA Sweet 16.

Director of Athletics Sean Duggins stated, “Our varsity basketball schedule is intentionally designed to challenge our team and prepare our student-athletes for a strong postseason run. Coach Saxton and our staff are focused on developing basketball skills for our players, “sharpening their edge”, and building mental toughness. We also strive to form values that last well beyond the court. We are committed to developing men of faith and character who compete with excellence and represent Trinity with integrity in everything they do."

Head Coach Bret Saxton said, “As a coaching staff, we are very excited to compete against some of the very best programs in the state and in the region. We have a relatively young varsity group, but they possess a very high collective basketball IQ. They have accepted the challenges within our fall conditioning program and there is a collective understanding of how we’re going to be successful this season. It’s a high character group of players and families who embrace what it means to wear the Trinity Basketball uniform. As an extension of Trinity High School, Trinity’s Basketball program is looking forward to competing at the very highest level by demonstrating the core values of men of faith and men of character."

From Shamrocks senior Xavier Cosby, “Leadership isn’t about always being the loudest voice; it’s about setting the strongest example. A true leader lifts others up when they are down and pushes them to be their best. Leadership means showing effort every single play, even when no one is watching. As a senior, I want to lead not just with words, but with actions that inspire my team.”

From Shamrocks junior Garrison Gilvin, “Being a leader means having your team’s back, especially when things get tough. It’s not about talking the most but showing up and getting it done. I’m excited for this season and looking forward to showing up and having our team’s back.”
