Rock Reflections

Join us for our weekly “Rock Reflections,” a series celebrating Trinity alumni. From all 50 states to countries worldwide, our graduates are making an impact, and we'll share their stories on Trinity's website and social media.

This week's profile is about Greg Russell '18

Greg Russell

Greg Russell is a Class Agent and is involved in the Young Alumni Shamrock Society and the Alumni Business Circle.

“I want to help be the voice of Trinity and spread the amazing experience that I received during my time and to allow students, both incoming and existing, to have the same great experience that I had,” Greg said.

Greg came to Trinity from St. Martha Catholic School. He is a third-generation Trinity graduate. His grandfather John Russell (1962), father Christopher Russell (1987), uncle Steven Russell (1991) and brother Matthew Russell (2020) are all Trinity alumni.

Greg was a member of Toussaint House and played Ultimate Frisbee and intramural basketball and volleyball. He was selected by the Archdiocese of Louisville to participate in its Christian Leadership Institute.

“My Trinity day started with gathering with friends in the Alumni Hall cafeteria for breakfast,” Greg said. “From there, I went to my locker on the first floor of Sheehan Hall. I remember my classes throughout the day along with lunch and then finishing up the day with the fun Advising periods.”

Some of Greg’s favorite teachers were Patrick Heintz, John Baldwin ’87, Chris Toth ’06, Mike Budniak H’11 and Gary Owens ’88.

“My teachers were amazing,” Greg said. “You could tell they truly cared about us as students and the subject matter they were teaching. They were passionate about what they were doing.”

After graduating from Trinity, Greg enrolled at the University of Louisville with the intention of studying engineering. However, he transferred to Bellarmine University where he earned a degree in finance in 2024. Greg is currently a wealth advisor with Yellow Cardinal Advisory Group.

“I began my career in finance during my college years with internships in financial advising and banking,” Greg said. “After graduating, I continued my career in financial planning and wealth managing where I continue to work today.”

“Trinity had a very foundational effect on my personal and professional life,” Greg continued. “I learned to be a man of character and to be open-minded. My experience at Trinity and the relationships I developed paved the way for where I am now.”

In addition to being involved with the Alumni Association, Greg is a regular donor to the Trinity Annual Fund for financial aid.

“I give because I want to ensure that future students have the same opportunities I did,” Greg said. “My time at Trinity helped shape who I am, both academically and personally, and I believe that access to an education such as Trinity’s shouldn’t depend on a family’s financial circumstances. Contributing to financial aid helps create community where talented individuals from all over can thrive.”

Greg says he will continue to attend Trinity alumni events and contribute financial aid.

“I encourage young alumni to get involved,” Greg said. “The events are fun, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know alumni in my age group.”
