Chapel

There will be an all-school mass on Monday, Dec. 8, for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day in the Catholic Church. We will operate on an Assembly B schedule.

  • Students will report to Advising by 8 am.

  • Seniors will sit in chairs on the floor, and all other students will sit with Advising groups in their assigned spots.

  • After mass, Dr. Zoeller will dismiss us back to Advising and then all will move directly to 1st block.

This feast day celebrates Mary's pivotal role in our Salvation history. Her role as Jesus' earthly mother gives her the privilege of being like him – conceived, born, and lived without any sin.

Devotion to Mary in the Catholic tradition is widespread – look at the local churches named after her in a variety of roles: Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Mary's, Our Mother of Sorrows, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Our Lady of Consolation, etc. Pope Pius IX formally proclaimed the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception in 1854, and the American bishops have named Mary Patroness of the United States under the title of the Immaculate Conception (thus, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC).
