This week's profile is about Parker Norman '20

Parker Norman

Parker Norman ’20 started his company, Evergreen Lawncare & Landscapes, when he was in the seventh grade. He applied some of what he learned at Trinity to build his business into what it is today.

Parker came to Trinity from Barret Traditional Middle School. Ice hockey was one of Trinity’s attractions.

“The hockey team was a big factor in my decision,” Parker said. “I wanted to be part of a competitive program and represent a school with strong traditions both academically and athletically.”

In addition to ice hockey, Parker played lacrosse and intramural sports. He also was a Toussaint House captain and a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. Additionally, he earned a Shamrock Award and Scholar Athlete Award and was a member of the Joseph of Arimathea Society, Fellowship of Christian athletes and the Culinary, Environmental and Pep clubs.

Parker remembers daily life at Trinity as structured, energetic and community focused.

“There was always something going on,” Parker said. “Whether it was classes, practices, club meetings or House competitions, it created a strong sense of brotherhood and accountability.”

“Trinity helped shape my work ethic, leadership skills and faith,” he continued. “Being involved in so many activities taught me how to manage my time, work as part of a team and confidently step into leadership roles.”

Some of Parker’s favorite teachers were Mike Budniak H’11, Gary Owens ’88 and Dick Wunderlin ’72.

Two moments were particularly prominent for Parker.

“The senior retreat with my classmates was a meaningful and memorable experience,” Parker said. “Also, winning back-to-back state football championships against Male in 2019 when I was a senior and in 2020 after I’d graduated was unforgettable and something I’ll always be proud to have been part of.”

After graduating from Trinity in 2020, Parker attended the University of Louisville. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a marketing minor in 2023. He continued running his business while in school.

Parker remembers his mother cutting their home’s grass when he was a child.

“I felt like being a young guy I should be taking over those chores,” Parker said. “I had a toy lawnmower when I was growing up, and I’d mow behind my mom. When I was old enough, I started cutting our lawn. Then, my neighbor offered me $20 to cut his grass. That was a lot of money at age 13! Another neighbor asked me to cut his grass, and it just expanded from there.”

“I was going to high school full-time and playing lacrosse in the spring,” Parker said. “I installed LED lights on my mower so I could cut grass after lacrosse practice and on short nights in the fall.”

Evergreen Lawncare & Landscapes has grown to five employees. The company specializes in residential and commercial lawncare and landscaping, including snow removal.

Parker wants to continue to grow his company. It’s doubled its revenue each year it’s been in business. He also has invested in real estate.

“I’m looking for streams of income that don’t involved as much difficult manual labor,” Parker said. “I may sell Evergreen at some point.”

Parker continues to support Trinity. He’s an Alumni Class Agent and regularly attends Alumni Business Circle luncheons. He’s also involved with the Young Alumni Shamrock Society, which is open to alumni who graduated in the last 15 years. Last fall, Parker spoke with Trinity’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter. He supports Trinity students by being a donor to the Trinity Annual Fund for financial aid.

“I support Trinity because of the strong foundation it gave me — academically, professionally and spiritually,” Parker said. “The brotherhood and values instilled there continue to influence my life and business today. Also, the teachers truly care and want you to succeed. The classes were tough, but my teachers taught resilience and how to be successful in the real world when times are challenging. They instilled confidence.”

Parker is single and attends Southeast Christian Church. Parker’s father, Geoff Norman H’25, began substitute teaching at Trinity when Parker was a student and is currently teaching full-time.
