March has proven to be a great month for the Trinity Speech and Debate Team!
At the KCFL qualifier tournament, the following Rocks were selected to compete at the National Catholic Forensic League Grand Nationals Tournament in May in Washington, DC:
In Declamation: Chase Wissing
In Lincoln Douglas Debate: Liam Wahl
In Program of Oral Interpretation: Vance Ortego and Charlie Vonderheide
In Public Forum Debate: the team of Oscar Cardoza & Zayden Wright, and the team of Charlie Ellingsworth and Xander Leavell
At the KHSSL State Tournament at Murray State University, Akhil Mariyappa advanced to the Quarterfinal round (top 24) in Impromptu Speaking; Liam Wahl advanced to the Semifinal Round (top 12) in Impromptu Speaking and Extemporaneous Speaking; and the team of Vance Ortego and Charlie Vonderheide placed 6th in Improvisational Duo.
At the Kentucky NSDA District Tournament (state tournament), Liam Wahl boasted an undefeated record of 5-0 to claim the championship and qualify for NSDA Nationals in June in Richmond, Virginia. He will be joined by teammates Oscar Cardoza and Zayden Wright who will be competing in supplemental events.
