Alan Hennessey

Loving husband. Devoted father and grandfather. Successful businessman. Loyal friend. Community leader. Admired athlete. Class leader. Generous volunteer and supporter.

Alan Hennessey ‘69 carried many titles, all with the same sure hands that crafted a lifetime of success.

We salute him and pray for his family and the repose of his soul.

Alan W. Hennessey, 75, of Louisville, entered Eternal Life on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Alan was born in Louisville to the late Elmer and Dot Hennessey. He was part of the first class of St. Pius X Grade School and graduated from Trinity High School in 1969. After high school, Alan graduated from Georgia Tech in 1973. He was a proud owner and partner at Insuramax for nearly 50 years and was a faithful member of St. Gabriel the Archangel for over 50 years.

In 1968, Alan helped lead Trinity to their first state championship title and was also an All-American in football that year. While attending Georgia Tech, he was a letterman in football for all four years. Alan was inducted into the first class of the Trinity Hall of Fame in 1994 and later into the Louisville Catholic Sports Hall of Fame. He was a big supporter of UofL athletics, enjoyed playing softball, coaching numerous sports teams, and later became an avid golfer. Alan’s greatest joy was to go support and cheer on his grandchildren’s sports teams.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Doug Hennessey; in-laws, Bernard and Shirley Vogt; and brother-in-law, Alfred Mollozzi.

Carrying on Alan’s legacy are his loving wife of 53 years, Jane Vogt Hennessey; sons, Chad (Cindy), Andy (Laura), and Alex Hennessey; grandchildren, Hannah, Hunter, Hayden, Tyler, Molly, Ben, Hudson, and Luke; brother, Don Hennessey (Eileen); sister, Jean Wells (Todd Skaggs); in-laws, Dan Vogt (Jean), Gayle Gahafer (Steve), Suzanne Atzinger (Tim), and Christy Mollozzi; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, teammates, and very dear friends.

Visitation for Alan will be from 12-8PM on Tuesday, April 28 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Funeral Mass will be at 10AM on Wednesday, April 29 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity High School or St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
