How do I connect with Trinity alumni for business opportunities?
I’m looking for a job. How do I connect with Trinity alumni?
I’d like to hire a Trinity alum. How do I find them?

The Alumni Business Circle is for you! The Business Circle meets monthly for lunch at an alumni-owned restaurant or business. It’s an opportunity to network with alumni, share expertise and do business with each other.

Alumni of all ages and career fields attend the luncheons – realtors, bankers, IT professionals, general contractors, attorneys, marketing managers, and on and on. Attendance is usually 25-50 alumni. Come as you are from work.

The next Trinity Alumni Business Circle will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 19, at Brownie’s “The Shed” (9900 Linn Station Road). This will be a general networking luncheon. There is no cost to attend; you pay for your lunch.

Trinity High School’s campus has undergone incredible changes over the decades. How did the buildings get their names?

Trinity opened in September 1953 on the former site of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School, which moved to its present location at 501 Cherrywood Road in St. Matthews. The only classroom building was the original Holy Trinity School building, which was known as A Building and was constructed in 1938.

B Building was added to campus in 1956. C Building was completed in 1964. At the time, it was the only campus building with central air conditioning. D Building, an athletic field house, was constructed in 1976. The current gym was completed in 1968.

For the 1977-78 school year, in honor of Trinity’s 25th anniversary, the buildings were formally named. Name plaques were unveiled and blessed at the 1977-78 Opening Mass. A Building was re-christened Old Trinity Hall in recognition of our roots. B Building was named Floersh Hall in honor of Archbishop John Floersh, who was archbishop of Louisville when Trinity opened. C Building was named for Tom Sheehan, a member of Trinity’s first faculty and its first lay teacher. The gym was named Steinhauser Gymnasium in honor of Monsignor Alfred Steinhauser, Trinity’s founding principal. D Building was renamed Shamrock Hall.

The oldest building on campus is Flaget Hall, a house which was built in 1927. The building served as the convent for the nuns who taught at the former Holy Trinity School and as a residence for Trinity’s priest teachers. Today, it houses the Trinity Foundation offices for alumni relations and fundraising. It’s also the residence of Trinity Chaplain Rev. David Zettel ’58.

The Communication Arts Center (old armory), Shamrock Gym (replaced Shamrock Hall), Trinity Auditorium (old VFW Post), Alumni Hall and R.W. Marshall Center were years away from being added to the main campus.

Trinity also has off-campus facilities. In 2019, Trinity built a baseball stadium at St. Matthews Little League. In 2022, the Mather Tennis Center was added on Sears Avenue several blocks from campus.

Faith has always been part of daily life at Trinity. Students pray before classes start. Meetings begin with prayer. All-school gatherings are in who we are as a Catholic school.

Check in with yourself and your faith and reconnect with the Trinity Brotherhood at the 14th annual Alumni Retreat on Saturday, February 14. It will be held at Trinity from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. The retreat is open to Trinity alumni of all ages. It’s an extension of the Fourth Day of Senior Retreat and an opportunity for alumni to slow down from busy schedules, hear gifted speakers and just sit with God in prayer. Greg Herberger ’99, Greg Metry ’77 and Amos Stinson ’13 will share their stories this year. We are expecting more than 120 alumni of all ages to attend.

Also, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered. The day will conclude with Mass celebrated by Revs. Ron Domhoff H’98 and Dave Zettel ’58. There is no cost to attend the retreat. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

For alumni who live outside the Louisville area, you may join remotely via Zoom.

Alumni of all eras of Trinity's history remember Rev. Dave Zettel. He's Trinity's chaplain and is a member of the Class of 1958, the school's second graduating class. He still resides on campus in Flaget Hall (the Priest House).

Father Zettel celebrates Mass in Trinity’s chapel weekday mornings for faculty and students and an Alumni Mass on the third Wednesday of the month. (No reservations are necessary. Come to the rotunda from 7-7:15 a.m. and we’ll walk to the chapel.)

He also assists with the planning for the annual Alumni Retreat, which will be held on Saturday, February 14, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Trinity. The retreat is a great way to reconnect with your faith and Trinity. CLICK THE LINK (https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E355191&id=326) for additional information and to register.

Wednesday, December 31, Trinity's Bowling Team, led by Head Coach John McCarthy '07, hosted the annual Joe Fowler Invitational at Ten Pin Strike and Spare. The event is named in honor of Joe Fowler '71, who was Trinity's first head coach for the bowling team. Over the course of his 41-year career at Trinity, Joe taught dozens of different courses including math, business law, and freshman success courses. Outside of the classroom, in addition to being the head bowling coach, Joe was also a House Mentor, moderator of the fishing club, and organizer of the Shamrock Bass Classic. He is also a member of the Trinity High School Hall of Fame.

Beginning in 2017, The Fowler Invitational is one of the largest high school singles events in the state of Kentucky. This year, 138 bowlers participated from all across the state with six of the eight KHSAA bowling regions represented in addition to bowlers from Ohio and Indiana. Trinity had four bowlers participate with Blake Ackermann '26 securing an impressive 11th place finish.
