TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL PRESIDENT ROB MULLEN TO STEP DOWN IN JUNE 2025; SEARCH FOR SUCCESSOR UNDERWAY

After nearly 25 years as president, Mullen will assume new role as Vice President for Mission

LOUISVILLE, KY (May 21, 2024) – After serving as Trinity High School’s president for what will be nearly 25 years, Dr. Robert Mullen has announced that he will step down from that position, effective in June 2025. He will continue in his current role for the 2024-25 school year. A search for a new president has begun and is expected to conclude by early 2025.

Mullen, a 1977 Trinity alumnus, has maintained numerous teaching and administrative positions at the school during the last 42 years. He was named president of the school in 2000. Upon completing his role as president, Mullen will take on a new position at Trinity – serving as the school’s vice president for mission. In this role, he will concentrate on fundraising, while also providing transition support to his successor.

“Trinity is in a very strong position and effectuating a smooth transition to my successor will sustain the momentum we are enjoying,” Mullen said. “We have some significant initiatives underway and I look forward to helping see those to completion.”

“Rob has dedicated his entire professional life to Trinity,” said Joe Landenwich, chair of the Trinity High School Foundation Board. “He has kept our mission in the forefront with steady, purposeful and forward-thinking leadership. And for that, we are forever grateful.”

Mike Paradis, chair of the Trinity High School Board, noted that both governing boards have prepared in recent years for succession of Trinity’s leadership as a part of their commitment to

long-term strategic planning. “Rob has played a role in our preparation,” Paradis said. “He wanted to ensure that upon his decision to step down the school was on the strongest footing possible academically, financially and operationally. Thankfully, that is where we are today.”

A search committee consisting of members of both boards has been established to identify the school’s next president. The committee’s initial work will include seeking input from a wide range of Trinity stakeholders regarding the most important qualities for the next president. The committee has engaged Ashley|Rountree and Associates to assist with the search.

Mullen is the fifth head of school in Trinity’s 71 year history, and the school’s second president. (The position of president did not exist prior to 1994.)

Founded in 1953, Trinity High School is the largest private or Catholic high school in Kentucky, with an enrollment of more than 1,250 young men.
